21st Century Schizoid Band, The Robin2, Bilston, UK, 29th October 2003

A rainy night in the Wolverhampton area didnít stop me from going to see a selection of classic songs performed by ex members of King Crimson.  The Twin sax opening number, A Man A City filled the room and filled many peoples minds of what it might have been like all those years ago.  In the band we have Ian McDonald, Mel Collins, Peter Giles, Ian Wallace, and the man who claims he tiled Greg Lakes bathroom, Jakko Jakszyk.

Cat Food was next in the set, and again it was a joy to hear these classics again. You hear of tribute bands all the time, but from ex members from the band, makes a nice change!

A song from Ian McDonald followed Cat Food, called Let There Be LightCirkus and Cadence & Cascade were next, and the band played these songs with a number of instruments.  A nice triple flute solo was enjoyed from the fair sized crowd, and then the classic from 1969, In The Court Of The Crimson King was greeted with a big cheer. There was a great Mellotron sound from Ian McDonald, along with the flute solo too!

After Ladies Of The Road, Catleyís Ashes, a medley of Formentera and Sailorís Tale, the three classics from In The Court, I Talk To The Wind, Epitaph and last but not least 21st Century Schizoid Man blasted the venue again with the sax.

Starless was the encore, and again it was a great feeling to hear these old songs. There is an album available to purchase containing with all these songs.

A most enjoyable evening, and hope they return soon.
